I was playing on a map that was created for 1.11 and traveled to the woodland mansion. While inside I could hear fire, so I went around the corner of a hall, and found a huge part of the mansion was on fire because a block of lava was in the wall of ground that the mansion generated it. I expect the fire to destroy a lot, but it wouldn't disappear and burnt the entire mansion into pieces. I'm uploading images of it.
EDIT: It you look at the picture that shows the overhead view of the roof; underneath every bit of it, looks like the 3rd image. The very bottom left of that overhead view is where the fire started.
Of what I know fire uses to spread until there's no blocks nearby to burn anymore. What you could do to stop it from spreading more is you could either place water as a wall, or destroy sections of the house before the fire reaches it to cut the fire off. (Like you do to control forest fires)
Okay, I think I misinterpreted the age function of fire.
