So, as the title states, I'm not really sure where to put this. It sort of falls between vanilla and modded, but since the issues come before I've modded the game I'll put it here. So, I haven't played minecraft in a while. I recently got in the mood to play some, so I go and check out my .minecraft, and delete it to get a fresh install. I open minecraft, let it do its thing, and then head to the internet. I download three things, forge, optifine, and pixelmon, with the intent on going from there after I get them all working. I double click the forge installer and nothing happens, I get the spinning circle for about a second and that's it. I try optifine and pixelmon, and get the same result. I then delete each file, and download them once more, and find the same results. I try using the exe installer for forge instead of the jar, and again the same result occurs. I give up and go to start the technic launcher, and oddly it gives the same second of the spinning circle, resulting in nothing. So since all of this I have downloaded other files and they have been ran just as normal, but whenever I try to run a file associated with minecraft this happens. NOTE: I can play minecraft. Has this happened to anyone before? If so, is there a fix for it? This is really frustrating, as I have never encountered something so bizarre. Any help is appreciated, thanks.
Do you have java installed? What version? Try reinstalling it.
Also, check task manager while you try to run the installer. See if there's an additional javaw.exe or java.exe (or similar) process that pops up, and see how long it stays there.

Installing Java again seems to have fixed the issue, it doesn't make much sense to me how that was the issue in the first place, but hey I'll take it. Thanks!
