I have a Computer and a Laptop, both run Windows 10 and have it's own Minecraft account. No mods installed on either computer.
Every time I open it to LAN on my computer, the laptop can see it, when connecting to it, it is timed out.
When the laptop opens to LAN the computer can not see it.
Both have 1.10.2, I tried it in the same room and separate rooms. I just recently bought the second Minecraft account and I would like to play with my brother, we are both under the same internet and have very good connection to it.
The Minecraft Customer Service isn't open on weekends and I have been looking for help on the forums for 3 hours straight!
Hello there. Saw your post and made an account to try and help you. So it would seem since your laptop can see your desktop when you push your minecraft world to lan. But not the other way around. I would say there is a network issue with either computer blocking the lan connection. Normally this isn't a problem. But there are cases where pc just are stupid haha.
Something can try is manually setting the ip address of the desktop. (sometimes this has worked for me) If you don't know how to do this I can provide assitance if need be.
Okay. so first. you'll need to find open up command prompt. On windowws 8 and 10 this can be done with the windowws+s key combo. This will giove you a search options. Just type in Command. YOu should find it
Next type in ipconfig This should give you your ip address as well as the default gateway and subnet mask.
Next find control panel. then find network and sharing center. after that, click on Change Adapter Settings on the left of the window. There you will see a bunch of things. The only one you need to work out is the one you have connected your internet through. Either you have a wireless connection or you have a wired connection. (Ethernet) Right click on it and click properties. You'll get a window that has a bunch of check boxes.
Find the one that says Internet Protocol Version 4. Double click that. Another window will open. Click the box that says Use the following IP Address.
You will want to put in an ip adress that matches what you found with the ipconfig command in the command prompt. Subnet mask should be 255.255.255.0 So don't change that. You wont have internet haha. And the default gateway sould be something like (192.168.0.1 192.168.1.1 or 192.168..2.1) '
If you get lost let me know haha. THis can be a lot for someone new to it.
After starting up Minecraft and going to a World and Opening it to LAN, it still appeared on the laptop, yay, but was "timed out no further information"
When opening to LAN on the laptop it still did not appear.
When the Desktop tries to Direct connect to the Laptop is "Connection refused no further information"
When the laptop tries to Direct Connect to the Desktop after about 30 seconds of "Connecting to the Server..." it is timed out: no further information.
