So, I'm tried everything. F3 S, checked the volume mixer, checked the sound device, checked the files, restarted my computer, reinstalled Minecraft. Everything. It's been a few weeks now and I've gone insane.
So, in the .Minecraft folder, all the sound files are in their proper location, but when I play the game, they don't work. In the logs, it says:
[Client thread/WARN]: Missing sound for event: minecraft:ambient.cave
And it says that for every single sound file in the game.
*snort* that's really hard to check the way the sounds are stored in "modern" minecraft. I really doubt that you have gone through the effort of resolving sounds to hash and hash to file in order to check this, and I trust MC's logs more. SO I think the sounds are really NOT THERE.
Most likely you are looking at the legacy sound locations which are from OLD versions of minecraft.
Post the launcher log with all of the errors I'm reasonably confident will show up during the resource download phase.

I can't go online with my other computer, sorry, it's pretty bad with internet so I can't post them. No need to be so rude.
When I can, I'll scroll through and take photos, though.
