Hello everyone!
Recently, my Minecraft has been doing something strange. I noticed first when I was using shaders. The fps was decreasing... slowly... and even tough it bothered me, I decided to try to forget about it and think that it was only some sort of shaders bug. But when I was playing without shaders, this thing happened to me again. And I am genuinely concerned now, because originally, Minecraft with shaders had around 200fps and now it's barely getting a 100 and sometimes is getting under 60fps. Can someone help me on this matter please? Is it some sort of well-known bug or is it something I'm only experiencing? And if it is well-known, is there a solution?
Thanks!

Just a friendly guy who loves all sorts of geeky stuff! Ranging from coding to gaming! I also love Minecraft and its mods. Specifically, I definitely like most tech mods!
Also, even though this is unrelated, I have a Youtube Channel! You can go check it out here!
My computer is 64-bit and I have the 64-bit Java only installed I think. I use Optifine and the JVM arguments I messed around with were the -Xmx(number)G and the -Xmn(number)M values. I am using Sildur's Vibrant Shaders version 1.153 Extreme and like I said, fps was actually pretty high first time I used it and now it is just gradually decreasing.

If you increased the minimum Heap memory that's the problem. Increasing heap memory causes garbage collection to not occur often enough and when it does it no longer just occurs during slack time but starts to eat into time when the processor would normally be updating the game.
Remove your JVM arguments and let the system use the defaults and report back here.

I resetted my JVM aruments in my Optifine profile and the same problem was there. But, I did recall seeing Minecraft without shaders manage to increase fps a little bit.

try deleting your files on: temp, TEMP and prefetch
Try installing the 32-Bit Java (install both).
Turn off Vsync and turn on:
VBOs
Smooth FPS
Fast Rendering (not working with Shaders ON)
Lazy Chunk Loading
Also, try using Lower versions of shaders (lite, low)

I will do those, but can you offer me the directories of those folders?. Also if it is of any help, I will offer my specs here just to maybe help you. My CPU is an Intel i7-6700 @ 3.4Ghz, I have 16Gb of RAM and have an EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 SC GAMING ACX 3.0.

It will be (quite) complicated if i'll tell to you the location of the folders, so Windows Key+R then type what I've said. Is that NVIDIA? I never really use a NVIDIA (for the last 2 years, only intel until now). But hopefully I could work something out.

For the Low shaders, Click .
Yes the video card is NVIDIA and is currently supposed to be a powerful one. Tbh, I'm not really concerned about the fps thing as long as it doesn't go under 60fps. The thing I'm concerned about is WHY it is doing it and like I said, I know my PC is powerful enough to handle the shader I'm currently using at around 200fps because it already did (I also bought my PC recently so it reached 200fps not too long ago). Even if at least, I know why it is doing this problem, it will put my mind at ease a bit more. I deleted the files in the folders now but I only managed to find 2 folders as Temp and Prefetch which I'm not sure if they are what you meant. Will be testing it now.
EDIT: Problem is still there. But I think it managed to improve a tiny bit, but I'm not sure.

Update your PC? update it all. And also "temp, TEMP, and prefetch" contains junk files.

Yeah I know that they contain junk files and see why you wanted me to find those folders to delete their contents. When you say "update your pc" what do you mean exactly? Are you talking about drivers, software etc?

1. Because they contain extra files that the computer doesn't need much (say you uninstalled a program, the program may be deleted, but not the files like .blah, blah, blah etc.)
2. I'm referring it all of 'em, your software, your graphics drivers, OS version, etc.

For point 1, yes I realised that and thank you for the explanation. As for point 2, yes, I will be updating everything that you said or at least check for updates whenever I have the chance.

Everything on my system seems to be up-to-date... and I've done a bit of checking myself on other games and they seem to run normally... so this is definitely a Minecraft problem.

If you are still interested in my problem, I think I may know what is going on. During the summer, I used to turn on my AC to prevent my computer from getting too heated. Now that summer as ended and the weather started to change a bit, I decided to not turn on my AC. My computer has software that can manipulate a graphic card's performance according to temperature. During the times I had my AC on, the air was cool enough for the graphics card to work properly and the software in itself didn't do a lot of work either. Even though now the air at my country is starting to cool, it is still and I think that the software is completely limiting the performance of my graphics card to ensure it doesn't heat up too much. Could this be the problem?

I'm not sure, as far as I know, if it's too overheated, the computer will eventually be slow in processing data. Can you post a video about that FPS decrease, if you'r using Windows 10, use the Windows Game Bar instead (because it doesn't take much of the computers' performance).
Since your running a Intel CPU, mostly likely your running with integrated graphics. By default minecraft will run the integrated graphics. Reason other games run just fine as your PC automatically detects the integrated will not run that or set by game developers, used to set automatic settings.
Try
You can set this also in Nvidia Control Panel.
Your PC will lower clock speed based on the temperature and current running tasks. Your PC will not over heat your PC will automatically turn off when it gets to hot. AMD & Intel CPU's have a temperature limit of 82c to 86c max. If this temperature is persistent you need to figure out your systems cooling. Programs like SpeedFan, and CPUID HwMonitor will help to tell you temperatures in your PC. From highest, lowest and current. But it should limit your performance to much unless your system has overheated.
Both of my PC's are built for performance and they run windows 10 just fine. My older PC, is running 750 Ti with a AMD Quad-Core.

Right now, it seems to have stopped decreasing gradually, and it seems to be fluctuating at a certain FPS boundary. I use OBS to record. I'm not sure if it's good for you. It normally stays with the same FPS.

I am using Windows 10, so I don't have the option in the context menu like you do. My graphics card's software temperature limit is in fact 82c so thanks for the info. You see, I think I normally reach that temperature while gaming on a graphics-intensive game or if you want me to stay in the subject, Minecraft with shaders. As for the NVIDIA Control Panel option, can you guide me on what to do? I know what you are talking about but it seems I can't find the option in it.

Install both Java 64 and 32-bit, don't put anything at the JVM Arguments, and use OptiFine.
On shaders, it is either the shaderpacks you used are High-Performance demanding or you are using an old shaderpack (chocapic13 V3 or older).

That has nothing to do with Windows 10. It is based on the Laptop's manufacturer to include the option in their drivers.
