for days ive been trying to run minecraft on my pc and mod it. ive done it before but with a different computer. i bought the game ive run the installer and i tried to mod it with 1.10 but for some reason every time forge tried to load it crashed like right in the middle of the MOJANG loading screen. i tried all the different ones on the forge site but my computer will only read the "win installer" so after several fails i gave up and realized there wasnt any mods i liked for 1.10 yet anyway. so i saw a video on youtube top 50 mods for 1.9 so i was like okay fine lets try this and after many hours of trial and error and pulling my hair out and trying to read why my minecraft isnt working online i finally got 1.9 to work properly with forge and optifine. so i went to mod it and realized well that video was wrong and none of the mods he said were in 1.9 yet they were all on 1.8.9 GREAAAAT. so my heart dropped i screamed a little and after i finally pulled myself together i tried 1.8.9 VANILLA mind you and for some reason it wouldnt load the neccasary files to load it so i tried rerunning the installer to repair it and then it kind of worked except now it wont play sound every once in awhile. like sometimes ill load it and it will play sound and sometimes it wont. so i reinstalled everything onec again and it seemed to finally get it straight (i think) but i installed forge and it started to run i was in good hope then i installed optifine and it all went to hell. no sound once again and when i try to mess with the optifine settings to make it run faster and smoother it crashes. WHY WORLD WHY. im just at end with this ive tried looking all over the internet and it left me with nothing but more questions PLEASE i need someone smart to help me obviously im doing something wrong i would post crash reports but theyre different every time. im willing to start the whole process over and have someone walk me through it i just cant do this by myself im sorry for such a long post ive never posted on here before and i just really wanna play minecraft.

Always give the most recent crash report if you have it. If not, give the FML log.
To be Frank, your computer sucks for modded. Is that 2G for the whole system? Or the amount allocated to Minecraft? You need a 64bit OS to allocate more than 1G. Modded Minecraft usually needs at least 2G (depending on how many and which types of mods you have), but often 3-4G for most users. While the actual OS requires about 1-2G. So, if you want to play modded Minecraft, your system needs at least 4G.
thank you for responding someone cares haha. um okay well ive heard you can increase ram on your computer is that true?? and yeah its only 2Gs for the entire system i kinda realized this computer sucks i have a desktop that runs on windows 7 and was thinking about just switching to that but i just put so much time and effort into this but maybe your right. i was looking up late last night about new graphics cards and drivers and it seems that getting those might be able to help run this but it was such a complicated process i had no idea what they were talking about im not even sure if i know. so like you said i need at least 4Gs is there a way to do that on this computer or am i screwed?? i would give you the latest crash log but i erased everything again to try and reboot it but im sure itll probably crash again so when it does ill post it let me start up the process. ive also heard that updating all your drivers helps as well but i try to go to windows update and it just keeps saying "windows cant check for updates click here to find out how to check for updates" and i click and it just says look for updates and repeats itself . i feel so dumb like an old man whos never used internet before just "what sonny boy" -.-
i also use COMODO Antivirus and every time i reinstall minecraft it says "an application didnt configure correctly" which i assume is pertaining to minecraft since i dont have any other apps running do you know what that means or am i tripping. sorry for the barrage of questions your just the only person whos talked to me in days of searching the internet
whe i was looking up stuff last night it also said that i could manually switch to a 64 bit OS but i didnt know the process on how to do that either it was long and stressful

GPU shouldn't matter as much unless you're trying to run lots of visual effects or shaderpacks. You likely have to research which type of RAM your mobo supports and buy some more (fortunately, RAM is relatively cheap). I'd recommend at least 8G for the whole system. But that doesn't change the fact that you're on a 32bit system. You could have 16G of RAM in the system, but won't be able to use more than 1G for Minecraft. If your windows 7 machine is 64bit, you should just power through and switch to that. If not, you need a new Windows version. If you have a flash drive, you could copy the contents of your Minecraft directory and copy it to the new system.
Updating drivers can help, but I don't think that's the issue in this case. Also, Windows updates just suck. If you want to update drivers, you should use a 3rd party software like Driver Booster or, better yet, look up your GPU manufacturer on Google. They should have a driver downloads/support section.
Minecraft doesn't look like a demanding game at face value, but it can really hog up system resources. If you want to play modded, you need a decent machine.
I used to play Minecraft with Windows Vista. The key words were "used to". With the specs you have, I doubt you will be able to run modded smoothly at all. I now use a computer with Windows 8 and 8gb of RAM and sometimes it still has trouble with the beefier packs.
With the specs you have, it's a wonder you can play Minecraft at all... As for getting more RAM, the process to do that is literally to put a new piece of machinery hardware into your computer. Which would probably be a good idea, just go to someone who knows about the stuff, not some website claiming to let you "download" more RAM.
And yeah, this time and the next (if ever), please post the crash logs. In a spoiler, if possible.
so should i just try to switch to the desktop because i already have everything backed up on dropbox so im not worried. i honestly havent even gotten to play the game yet ive been so consumed in getting it to work so im not really worried about losing anything. or should i try and update this computer to windows 7 and give it a 64 bit OS?? and if i were to do option 2 could you help me walkthrough that because im not really sure where to start or what to do. the only reason i wanted it on this computer is its a laptop so its more portable. but im willing to do whatever it takes. thanks you guys for the help i really appreciate it

If it's a laptop, you're unlikely to be able to upgrade any hardware as most laptops don't have easily accessible innards. You might be able to upgrade the RAM, but without knowing which laptop you're using, I couldn't say. You should be able to upgrade the OS if your processor supports it, but if you don't have the Windows disk/flash drive, you need to buy a new one (which can be somewhat costly). I'd definitely suggest moving to the desktop at this point.
Upgrading Windows to 64bit is as simple as plopping the disk in and following the on-screen instructions to install the 64bit version. However, you will lose all of your data. So, if you care about anything on that computer, be sure to back it up.
I'm working on a large modpack myself and haven't really gotten to play in a few weeks now. Such is the nature of modded Minecraft
Bottom line is: you need a 64bit OS so you can use 64bit Java, which will allow you to use more RAM for Minecraft. A CPU running at least at 3GHz couldn't hurt either, but I'm out of my league with regard to processors.
However, we really need to see the crash report to verify any of this. So, don't buy anything just yet.
so your saying if i want to upgrade to 64 bit thought im going to have to buy an install disk?? so theres no way to download anything off the internet?? that would be cooler but hey whatevrs clever i suppose where would i get this disk could i just get on online and how much would it run me. also how would i go about upgrading to windows 7 as well do i have to buy that too?? man i i thought i could just buy the game but i guess you gotta buy the whole universe just to play -sigh- -.- #thepoorlife

A detailed walkthrough of the error, its code path and all known details is as follows:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You have to buy an install disk for Windows 7 64bit. You might be able to find a product key for somewhere around 50$ then install straight from Microsoft's homepage, but I can't find any trustworthy vendor. Otherwise you need a cd which can run anywhere from 70$ to 150$. At that point you may just want to go for Windows 10 as they're similarly priced. Just look it up on Google. Like I said, all you have to do to upgrade is plop the cd in and follow the instructions. Be sure to back up your stuff if you care about it.
Vanilla Minecraft (as distributed through Mojang) doesn't require the universe. However, modded pretty much does. But I have no idea how many and which types of mods you're trying to run without that crash report.
You have to research your processor in Google. Though, I did it for you and it does support 64bit. So no worries there.
Sometimes a Windows installation comes on a cd. In which case it needs to be placed in the cd tray. Other times it comes on a flash drive, which would go into the USB port.
Minecraft is primarily a CPU intensive game unlike most games which require more from the GPU. Blame it on Java. As such a processor running at 2.6GHz isn't going to give that great of performance for running your computer (in terms of gaming and other high intensity tasks, should be okay for things like web-browsing) let alone running modded Minecraft. You need to buy a new CPU, it isn't something you can download. But you can't install a CPU into a laptop or, at least, I wouldn't recommend it. You need to switch over to the desktop, if you want to start worrying about CPU power. Or buy a better laptop. New CPU in a desktop will be cheaper in the long run. Depending on what CPU you want, they can run anywhere from 100$ to 1000$s. You probably don't need that high end of a processor, though. Just food for thought.
Seriously though, research the stuff we're saying to you on Google. I'm far from an expert.
yeah im just gonna switch to the desktop i just wanted to know because i didnt know what you were talking about but that seems legit. ill try it on the desktop and if that messes up ill come back and tell you haha thank you for all the support man its hella appreciated im glad i came on here now
