like the title says. If i download a modpack from Curse or FTB i have massive FPS loss in both menus and the game. adjusting settings does nothing. I have a decent machine and didn't have issues running 1.7.10 on higher settings. i play graphic heavy games on medium and high settings. Medium for MMOs like BDO. this is something i remember was happening to me for 1.7 as well. here's the rub, vanilla runs maxed out no issues. I even set up my own mods and play modded 1.9.4 without problems. i'm doubling the mods and updating the pack to 1.10.2 and going to LAN with my IRL buddy. i forsee no issues. my problem is when i run a modpack i DLed from FTB and Curse. probably any other modpack launcher as well those are just the 2 i use. and yes i have 4GB allocated to FTB and Curse MC. I also have them running in Admin mode.

Sapphire Dual-X Radeon HD 6970
it's not a beast but it's not a toaster either.
I would appreciate some assistance. because i'm at my wits end.
I would like help but am not familiar with mod packs at all. One thing I do know is there are times when no one on the forum is able to answer a question either because the op doesn't post enough info or there is no one who knows the answer to your post. FYI I posted a problem 1 month ago and never got a response.
well it has been almost a month now. I try to be as informative as i can. I worked Help desk over 4 years so i kind of understand why information is necessary. it's why i also provided my machine specs.
my buddy on Win7 has no issues. I had no issues on Win7 either.

Honestly can't say to much because I don't play mods, but I noticed the lag was significantly reduced when I lowered my fps to 40 on regular game. Standard fps is 30 for like youtube, etc, so I thought I would try it in my attempt to make the game run faster. Now I experience almost no lag and I have some of my other settings up. I have a fairly old computer, 2012, its a mac but its definitely a toaster in comparison. I would try adjusting fps to see if it works better than? Might be something so simple. Otherwise no suggestions hopefully you can get it working!

You might get help if you actually read the pinned post and gave us your logs. This should be trivial if you actually worked in information. You never even bothered to give us a mod list.

Logs? from the crashes i talked about in OP? oh wait, there was no issues with crashes. however i honestly did not think about logs. mod list is what's trivial. this is only happening if i download ANY modpack through launchers such as FTB or Curse. I'm running a collection of mods i downloaded and set up. And none of the issues i'm having with Curse/FTB modpacks are persisting.
@CraftyMinecraft, thank you but the LAG is not just when I'm in a world. Massive FPS drops in the Main Menu as well.
reinstalled JRE today see if that helped.

due to an issue with D3 Desolate sands Tileset i have reverted to an older Driver and that has not helped.
wow. . . the assistance from people on forums anymore is getting rediculous. 2 days and no replies.
