I'm putting this here, because it deserves some explanation, and there is no other means of contacting you without information that is working for your web-site, yet works just fine when I put it into the launcher. Thank you for your understanding that yes, there was no other channel through which to contact you, and that this therefore landed here.
I bought minecraft a great many years ago, and recently got the hankering to play it again... which is working! Just fine! I've even got a small castle started But... I wanted to change my skin a little, yeah? So I come onto the minecraft website, and I input the usual login information... and it gets me absolutely nowhere at all... Wait, what? This all worked just fine prior to the website overhaul.
Now, I'm not sure who or what hiccuped where, because quite frankly, I suspect the two (game and website) are linked up in such a way that this ought not to be possible. But, I've tried every email I've ever had, every password I've ever applied, and nothing's working on the web site. The game though, different story. Input the same password, blam. I'm in. That worked...? Curious, I thought the solution would be to migrate my account. Which I did... using the username, that I was logged in on, in the game. Nothing. Not only nothing, but it's telling me my email or password is invalid when I try to log into the website, using the information that I JUST ENTERED, and that it JUST accepted when I just migrated that account over. I know what my email was, I know what my password was. Why isn't it working?
But without that working, I simply can't get in touch with your support, which I've never needed in the past. Is this an oversight, perhaps? So at this point, my questions shifts from, what do I have to do, and becomes... (not to sound snooty, but) what do you have to do? I've been through your support sector, and there's nothing there addressing this issue, and no way to report on it short of your website suddenly deciding that my information exists again (which would solve the problem and make this unnecessary to begin with). The launcher still recognizes me... so why doesn't your website?
I just wanted to change my skin, and I found a bigger issue.
And this one's not on me, so, I do hope we'll be able to puzzle our way through it.
I can still play online and all, so it's not the most critical thing ever, but it sure would be nice to change my look.
Thank you.
(I registered this name on the forums when my other information failed to work, similarly to the website. I don't know if this shares with it or not, but regardless, if one does nothing, nothing can be expected to change, now can it? :))
Yeah. Several times. Works on the launcher! Tells me I'm still logged in as my username (basically, "wait, that information is the login for the profile you're logged in on. You're already there!") when I do it. But, the website doesn't recognize that same information. I mean, if it takes a few days to update itself, that'd be one thing... but I don't think that's the case?
I'd love to use that method, but, here's the thing. Because the website appears to have lost its handle on my info, I can't even reach support to get this issue resolved. Thanks to it not recognizing my working information, I'd need my transaction ID number in order to reset that information as a means of undoing whatever... weirdness, has occurred here (a way of self-restoring the matter to something, anything, that I recognize, because right now, somehow, that's not the information that is working). That, is the one thing that I don't have anymore (two options for where it was. I say was because option one was an old email managed through an ISP that has since been deleted as I haven't been with them for a number of years, so if that was it prior to migration, the trans ID? It's looooong gone), and I certainly don't remember the date of the transaction almost 8 years later to reclaim it. As for the email I use for gaming, that's... well, that only stores but so many things at once, so again, long gone. Two potential options, even though I sure as heck know which one the launcher recognizes. Plus, according to their support pages, it appears that I'm completely cut off. Never mind that I can quite easily resolve any claims of identity with a slew of screencaps. *grumble*
I haven't "lost" my email address. I know it, the game knows it, so why should I even have to jump through that hoop? But alas, the site refuses to acknowledge that my account/email/password exist, even though I'm literally playing minecraft with that information, online, right this second. >.> It got me logged in on my launcher juuuust fine.
TL:DR - the nature of the issue is such that I literally CAN'T get that far, which is why I've reached out for assistance here. Game launcher recognizes my email and the password, without issue. This is pretty much the only option I had left to my knowledge, unless you have a number I can call.
UPDATE: I'm not sure if it was you, or someone else, but I've just tried again, and the issue's been resolved. Might be it was a matter of the servers refreshing with the updated information, or maybe one of you heard my cry. Either way, this is mercifully closed. Thanks for popping by with your advice either way - that's still appreciated.
