Can i join a vanilla LAN/Server if my Forge profile only has client-side mods (JustEnoughItems, Optifine, etc.), or does forge make a vanilla server unjoinable?

Since i like to play minecraft via LAN with my sister, servers should not be an issue unless i use a mod that adds more items. Is this correct? Just making sure.
