I'm trying to play minecraft with my son. When I log in and press multiplayer, his lan connection to his world shows up. But when I try to join it, it times out before it loads. We have separate Mojang accounts. We are playing on the same internet server--he is using the wifi connection from our wifi router, and I am hard-wired to the ISP's modem.
Thanks so much! It works now. Just in case someone with the same problem ever comes along, searches, and reads this thread, we found that my son's puter had to have the firewall down, but I could leave mine up.
Best,
Jeff

Edit: when I try to connect, I get this error:
java.net.connectException:connection timed out: connect
I'm not very knowledgeable about computers, so if I am asking this in the wrong place, please let me know? And thanks for any help.
