After a year with vanilla Minecraft I want to start diving into mods. And here comes my problem, that you please not comment with "dumb", "noob", "stupid" and the like.
All, I repeat, all instructions I could find regarding installing those two, assume a system-wide Java installation. However, when I bought Minecraft it came with a local Java implementation ( in my Minecraft folder/runtime/jre-x32/1.8.0_25/bin ) that's started when I run Minecraft. And none of the installation instructions work with this local java.
Starting the Forge Windows installer it tells me that it requires a jre 1.6.0. If I try to run the Forge .jar file with Java.exe from above mentioned folder, a dos window opens for a fraction of a second, but nothing else happens. When I try to run the .jar with Javaw.exe from above mentioned folder, nothing at all happens.
I don't want to install a global Java for security reasons. Did anyone ever successfully install Forge/optifine with a newer installation of Minecraft that has a local jre? If so, please, please, please, help me out!

This is what I get when trying to run the Forge .jar from the command window:
Solved by using the installer jar, not universal jar.
