Okay so I have tried every method I could find. When i allocate more
memory, doesnt matter if its the java script or .bat file, minecraft
always caps at 1011M. I have 16 gigs of ram, dedicated video card, can
play battlefield in 3d lol, but I cant get my minecraft to use more
than 1g. I have java 64 bit installed, newest version, re installed
minecraft multiple times, And I still cant get this memory to go. I also
have windows 8 64 bit
Reason I need more is for pixelmon. I want to put 4g on it, at least 2.
Not sure why The script wont take. Even renamed the target for the
shortcut method, and still 1011m. Anyone have any clues? Can send any
info anyone needs.
Posting In unmodified minecraft because with or without pixelmon, it still wont increase memory
PS in minecraft 1.7 I was able to run 2x minecrafts at one time without lag... lol
Again I have done that... I have done every solution I could find on these forums any the other ones. Ive searched for hours, tried that 100x's, doesn't work.
Currently
-Xmx3072M -Xms3072M
But Ive tried the longer codes, ive tried with less memory, more memory, dong the 3G or 2G, nothing changes my allocated memory in that line, Not sure why mine wont change
Set this lower. Change it to 256M, this is used for texture rendering,
No, this is the starting heap size. It must be less than Xmx, and shouldn't be excessively high because MC will always use at least this much memory, even if it doesn't need most of it. This leads to stupid questions on the forum like "Q: Why is Minecraft using so much stupid memory?!?! A: Because you told it to"
The OP has to be confused about something somewhere. Certainly if you have redundant Xmx commands on the command line (or from _JAVA_OPTIONS environment variable), it's the lowest value that will win. You can keep increasing one of them, but its the lowest that governs.
BUT, if the Xms3072M parameter were actually there AND the heap size was truly limited to 1G, then the JVM would fail to start with it's version of an "invalid / inconsistent arguments/parameters" error message.
Instead what the OP might be seeing is that they do in fact have a 3G heap, but MC never needs to use and does not use more than what it needs, which is the lower number.
The only way to be sure is to see the F3 screen showing the memory statistics.
My memory with f3 upon loading a map sits at 91% and rolls up to 99% over maybe 2 seconds, then freezes for a second, goes back to 91%, and repeats. It always has the 1011M available no matter what setting I use.
Using Optifine it is the same thing, but starts at 85%
The log below has 3G right now, but with that or 3072M, I get the same numbers using f3
So you have conflicting Java arguments. I am pretty sure that this combination would have caused the JVM to not launch in the past, but maybe the newer versions of Java are more tolerant. Nevertheless, the smallest Xmx parameter is winning.
So I wonder where I find the other one then. Because I only ever typed the 3g, I have checked my java enviroment override and my mine craft and I cant find the 1g any where...
Also modded or unmodded, I still have the same issue. It only maxes modded so I have the launcher using Forge to test memory.

Moderatoryou allocate more ram to minecraft via the profile on the launcher, not via scripts or bat files

Curse PremiumRemoved that, since that was incorrect. Thanks @gerbil for cleaning that up for me.
I not my strongest really any where else. PC Hardware is my strongest field.
Former everything.
How to get dxdiag

ModeratorMoved to modded support as the logs supplied are for modded minecraft, not unmodded
So you have conflicting Java arguments. I am pretty sure that this combination would have caused the JVM to not launch in the past, but maybe the newer versions of Java are more tolerant. Nevertheless, the smallest Xmx parameter is winning.
Do you have a 64bit OS
Obviously they do.
So I wonder where I find the other one then. Because I only ever typed the 3g, I have checked my java enviroment override and my mine craft and I cant find the 1g any where...
Also modded or unmodded, I still have the same issue. It only maxes modded so I have the launcher using Forge to test memory.
