I would first first like to express my appreciation ahead of time for any and all assistance. I installed Minecraft on my old laptop for my son last year and was able to download some of his desired mods and seemed to work with no issues. Within the last month or so, he has since downloaded some additional mods and I believe updated to versions through 1.10.2. The problem that I am running into, was I searched and found some mods for version 1.10.1 which I downloaded and added to the Mods folder, but none seemed to work. We then changed his use version back to 1.7.10 so he could continue to play using the old mods he was using but they don't seem to be working now. When he selects the play button, they used to show some downloading/loading actions on the Mojang splash screen. This is no longer happening. Can anyone tell me what may be causing this?

Curse PremiumDid you install Minecraft Forge for version 1.10.2?
If not, you can go to files.minecraftforge.net and under Recommended, click Installer.
