Hey, I just built a new PC, and I've been having some issues while running Minecraft. I had some buggy rendering, although as of this post, it seems to have gone away... but my frame rate appears to be capped. Default Resource Pack, 2 Render Distance: 133 FPS. 32 Render Distance: 133 FPS.
I don't need someone to tell me, "That's more FPS than you need, don't worry about it", because that's not the point of this post. I've seen people getting well into the hundreds, sometimes low thousands in frame rate, and I don't know why I'm not getting more.
ESC -> Options -> Max Framerate: Unlimited. V-Sync is not on (I have a 144 Hz monitor). In the NVIDIA Control Panel, I have global settings as VSync off, and DSR is also turned off, which would not be affecting it. What would be capping my frame rate? Like I said, this is a new PC, with very few programs on it. Graphics Driver is up to date.
System Specs
EVGA GTX 1080 FTW
Intel i7-5820k
16 GB G. Skill Ripjaws V (I've tried allocating more RAM in increments, did not help)
Corsair RM1000x Power Supply
I've seen other people with similar specs getting much higher frame rates. What gives?
Saying your PC is new, make sure proper installation of drivers? And using up to date drivers? Using the right output?
Many things can factor in why your getting a low frame rate on such a good card.
Hardware compatibility, Factory defects, Damage to hardware during shipping/handling or installation (Installation > Make sure to use cation when handling parts, use of a anti static mat, or a anti static band, proper use of anti static devices, make sure to ground yourself, handled items with care, followed provided installation instructions), display configuration.
Inside Nvidia Control
Personal note: Why a 1080?
Why using a capped frame rate is good. (Req. 60 - 120)
Less energy is used > Cooler power supply
Less heat production > Less sources of heat in a PC the better
I didn't get a GTX 1080 for Minecraft, I got it for other games like Battlefield 1 and such. I just happen to play Minecraft as well.
I also said I didn't want someone to comment on me wanting a higher FPS. I already know all about that, you don't have to coach me. I usually play with a capped frame rate (145 on MC, I have a 144 Hz monitor), but the fact that it's not even hitting that is concerning, consider my last computer which had a GTX 460, was giving higher results. I also already mentioned that my graphics driver was up to date. In the spoiler you showed, I already set that to 144 Hz. (not to mention that wouldn't explain it being at 133, instead of 144'ish).
Also, I took my parts in to get them professionally installed, even though I know how to do it myself, just for precautionary reasons, so I would hope/assume they were careful when installing them.
EDIT: Tested with 3DMark 11 Demo and throughout the test, I was also capped at 133 FPS, so it's not specific to Minecraft.
2nd EDIT: Fixed the problem, it was a motherboard driver. 2600 FPS, we're good. Yes, I capped it at 145 right after.

Less heat production > Less sources of heat in a PC the better
Takes strain off the card > Lasts longer
Fans are slower > System is not as loud
Former everything.
How to get dxdiag
