Hi everyone. I just built my first gaming pc , and I'll list the specs here:
Processor: Intel 5820k
GPU: EVGA GTX 1080 FTW
Ram: 32GB DDR4 3200
I'm also using an ASRock Extreme4 motherboard, an EVGA 750W 80+ Titanium power supply, and booting/running off a Kingston SSD, but I don't think any of that matters. My trouble is that I bought this computer thinking I should be able to pretty much max most games, and seeing as how Minecraft is a long time favorite of mine, I started here. I downloaded Optifine to run shaders, because I'd always seen them and thought they looked great. I'm using Soartex Fanver for my texture pack, and Sonic Ether's Unbelievable Shaders. Admittedly, I turned up most of the settings to max, hoping to see serious performance gains. I regret to say, however, that I'm averaging anywhere from 20 to 40fps, with 30GB of ram successfully allocated, and my max fps set to unlimited in the game settings. Could someone provide some insight into what might be causing this? How can I monitor the utilization of my CPU and GPU, because I don't feel like they're being fully utilized. The most I've seen used of my ram is 25%, but I've got it set so high for redundancy sake, so I know that it isn't the limiting reagent. Is this shader so complex that it's actually using all of my CPU/GPU power, and only managing 30fps on average? Any help would be appreciated, as I'm looking to play with high fps soon! (PS. My render distance is set at 16 chunks). Thanks Again!
I know 30Gb is overkill, I'm just using that to make sure ram isn't the problem. And yes, I've used the F3 screen, but it only shows me ram utilization, not CPU or GPU utilization.
Sonic ethers unbelievable shaders appear to run pretty bad in newer versions of minecraft with nvidia cards as of late, although i will admit that with the specs you have it is odd that your fps is sub 60. My suggestion would be to first of all download a different shader pack like KUDA and see if minecraft still has low FPS, and i would also recommend GPU-Z and use it to look at GPU usage, for example with my geforce 960 im able to run SEUS at max 45fps, and my GPU usage will be around 92%. If you do this and notice that all shader packs do this, or that your GPUisnt being utilised, then report back.

30G is way too much.
The F3 screen shows a lot of useful information, for example, which GPU is being used, how much memory you really need, etc.
Try killing a few processes maybe? Also is the game running off your CPU or your GPU? That could be part of it.
WHEN A MOTHER****A DEADASS BOOLIN AND HE NAE NAES ALL OVER UR **** U LIKE NIQQA (im not allowed to say the n word) NOW THATS A BITCHIN BRUH MOMENT

I'm running Minecraft as the only application, no other processes. The game is detecting the 1080 as the graphics card, so I don't see a fault there.

I'll do that tonight when my classes are over and report back, thanks for the ides!
