I am on a Mac running OS X El Capitan (OS 10.11.6). I am also running Java version 8 update 101.[/p]
I successfully installed forge 1.10.2-12.18.1.2011 and got one mod running that was compatible with Forge 1.10 (JourneyMap). But then I realized that most mods are compatible with 1.7.10. I am having difficulty installing Forge 1.7.10. I have downloaded the jar forge-1.7.10-10.13.4.1558-1.1.10-universal.jar, but whenever I try to open it I get a message saying "The Java JAR file 'forge-1.7.10-10.13.4.14558-1.7.10-universal.jar' could not be launched. Check the Console for possible error messages." But I don't see any relevant error messages in the Console app. This is despite having "Enable logging" and "Show console" turned on in the Java Control Panel.[/p]
I can turn forge-1.7.10-10.13.4.1558-1.1.10-universal.jar into an unpacked folder by control-clicking on it and then using Archive utility, but then I don't know what to do with the unpacked folder. [/p]
Can anyone help me:[/p]
A) Diagnose my issue launching the jar, so that I can install Forge 1.7.10 the "normal" way?[/p]
or[/p]
Let me know what to do with the unpacked Forge 1.7.10-10.13.4.1558-1.7.10-universal folder. There are a couple dozen files in there, and a half dozen folders. What should be dragged where?[/p]
Thank you very much for your time.[/p]
