Hey! Today i felt like playing Minecraft.. just like every other day to realize that when i tried to join any server, it gives me the java.lang.NullPointerException: Group Error.. I tried everything.. i deleted all my Minecraft files and re-installed them, re-installed java, deleted my Mcafee files, deleted my hosts file in my system32 folder but it still gives the error.. an old post said to try out HijackThis and give the results here.. so here's that : http://paste.ubuntu.com/23088758/

mcafee is known to cause issues like this and has to be fully removed

ADWCleaner is an utility to clean a PC which is infested with malware. Download it here:https://toolslib.net/downloads/finish/1
Run a Scan, Clean anything it finds, restart the computer and come back here for further instructions.
avast normally isn't an issue, unless its had a bad install, a full remove and reinstall will cure that
i ran ADWCleaner and it managed to clean 250+ threats which managed to get my headphones to work on my laptop now but did nothing to my Minecraft. My malwarebytes did the same too.. You also told me to come back here for further instructions so could you please give me all the steps.. I am willing to do anything to get my Minecraft to work again.
ah the return for further instructions wasn't intended, that info was a copy/paste from a bot on irc, i just copied it for the links etc.
but honestly if you had that many issues then i would suggest you have a professional take a look as you may have some deeper buried malware that i can't fix with simple instructions
Turns out all i had to do was run Windows Defender and it took a 7 Hour Full Scan to tell me that I had a Trojan Virus and that it could clean it up.. after that.. i was one restart away from playing minecraft!

do you mean deleted or did you fully uninstall mcafee using http://us.mcafee.com/apps/supporttools/mcpr/mcpr.asp

Whatever you do, don't log out. I had this issue, and when I logged out I couldn't get back in and still can't...
