Depends on what gaming mouse you have. Odds are you actually have to set it up with each individual game.

If the buttons work in Windows you could try changing the key bindings in the MC options, under "controls", just scroll down, click on the key you want to change so it turns yellow and click the button you want to use. Unfortunately MC only lets you have one key/button per function so if you set a function to a mouse key you can't use the key unless you change it back.
If your mouse comes with a program for setting the buttons (I would think it would.) you could set a button to the key that is used for a function.
I recently just bought a gaming mouse. I have noticed that non of my side buttons actually work when I'm on the game. Can i get some help?

And then both the key and the button would work.
