I added MinecraftLauncher.exe to my exceptions list, and when I try to repair it and get the launcher back I get this msg: Error Writing To File: C:\Program Files (x86)\Minecraft\MinecraftLauncher.exe. Verify that you have access to that directory.
Anyone know how to verify I got access? Or any other way to use the MCLauncher?
I restored it and then it worked. You may have to restart the computer as well.
Some have success by uninstalling Avira to gain access of the files. Not something I would recommend, though. You may be able to revert the file and then through safe mode be able to remove it correctly.
To stop Avira from reporting Minecraft as a false-positive, please do the following:
Open Avira, open the Extras menu, click Configuration, and set the switch to 'Expert'. Open the 'Internet Protection' sub-menu, open 'Web Protection', and then 'Scan'. Click 'Exceptions', and at 'URLs Skipped by Web Protection', enter 'http://s3.amazonaws.com*', click Add, then finally click Apply.
However there is always a risk that this is not a false positive and a virus has worked its way into your system and has infected the minecraft files, make sure to run a deep scan with a decent antivirus and anti malware software first
It seems this is most likely an issue with Avira AV. My friends who were also using Avira AV told me they also ran into the same problem. We scanned our PCs with other anti-malware, like avast!, AVG, COMODO and ESET, and we really couldn't find anything. I've also rechecked the status of my submission to Avira Virus Lab. It still says "known clean".
For now, I'm sticking with AVG, Malwarebytes and Windows Defender. I didn't like how Avira AV handled the whole thing.
I just took the Minecraft Noob test! Check out what I scored. Think you can beat me?!

Good programming structure makes the difference.
I checked, It's not there.

If Avira is quarantining Minecraft, check out this site for adding to the exceptions. It helps with Refog , but read Refog as Minecraft.
