So my cousin had some troubles with his minecraft recently and waiting it off has not worked. He is getting the error, "Failed to login: The authentication servers are currently down for maintenance," but the servers are up because I can join them. He was using Optifine for 1.8.8 and then tried logging in with regular 1.8.8, but still no hope. He has also tried to log into 1.8.9 but still gets the failed to log in error. His internet connection is fine because we can join Skype calls and he still can see the message on the servers and still gets 4+ bars to every server that he has...Any fixes? He has tried to delete his minecraft folder and uninstalling it and reinstalling it, but still gets the errors.
Hope theres a fix and can get one anytime soon!
(We know its just my cousin because one of my other family members and I can log into servers, and havent seen anyone on servers complaining about this error)
I have gotten the error in the past, and I've been looking for answers here as well, but I think it can be a error on Mojang's part though. Check if they are up and having no issues here: https://help.mojang.com/ . If its still happening while the servers are working with no issues, i can't help you.
