Running Minecraft on a Windows 7 Pro SP1 64bit machine.
Last night I started to get the attached error when attempting to run the Minecraft launcher. I have Googled this, obviously, but wasn't finding anything recent. I have NOT uninstalled and re-installed Java. I will do it but I first wanted to find out if anybody knows why this error started happening? I can still launch minecraft if I change the Minecraft.exe file extension to "jar", but it annoys me to no end to have to do that. Can anybody shed any light on this?

It clearly states that JRE is corrupted. Re-install Java (also delete all previous versions) and it should be fixed.
