Okay so I have been searching the internet for over an hour trying to fix my problem so here's a little backstory:
So I'm on Minecraft 1.10.2 with Optifine (I dont know if thats considered vanilla but I thought I would post it here just incase sorry if im in the wrong area) I have tried this without optifine and I get the same results. I has getting minimal FPS (20-30) on singleplayer which would decrease on some servers which is understandable, although it was still playable. I have a 64bit operating system and was using a 32 bit java for this.
A few hours ago I deleted the 32 bit java (probably the root of my problem tbh) and downloaded a 64bit java hoping that would fix my lag. It made it worse. I get more FPS yes, but I get really bad lag spikes whenever I try to move. I've searched everywhere for a solution but to no avail. Ive changed settings re downloaded optifine and reinstalled minecraft and nothing. I know this probably gets asked alot but I couldn't find anything.
*EDIT* I forgot to add that the main menu is really laggy as well
