Hello, i was wondering if their is any way to make a minecraft modpack launch faster. on a modpack with about 130 mods it takes 15-20 minutes just to launch. this can get annoying at times so is their any way to make it any faster?
If you're trying to load alot of heavy mods it will take some time no matter what you're running it on. But 15-20 mins for 130 mods seems a bit too excessive. What are your PC specs and what mods are you running?
You could try running an SSD instead of a HDD, but that could cost $50+ for a drive, depending on which one you get, it's a slight increase of loading time but don't expect much.
If I were you I would get some more RAM in your pc just for a performance boost. 4GB is not enough for gaming get 2 or 4 GBs more. To load your mods up faster get a SSD I would just get a smaller one just for minecraft and any other games. A 400GB one should do well and be just enough space for your games. Though if you plan on only playing minecraft on your pc or you only play Minecraft and maybe some other 2 games like League and TF2 I would go for like a 200 or less GB one. You could also try closing other programs that are open that use a lot of your disk like internet browsers.
He's got a SAMSUNG HD256GJ HDD, which is a standard 7200rpm drive, shouldn't be too much of an issue. It is, however, only SATA 3gb/s, and normally they're 6, but I can't see it causing this.
The ram, yes, is a bit low.
Your processor is fine, and the graphics card doesn't matter for loading.
Ultimately, aside from maybe defragmenting your HDD, I'd guess low ram is the problem. But 4gb should be enough.
Can you link the modpack to me? I'll launch it so we can compare. (I've got an SSD and 16gb of ram, so if it takes forever, it's something wrong with the mods/modpack/launcher)
Also, you don't need a 400gb SSD.
I have this as my storage configuration:
250GB SSD - 30gb free (holds Windows, Minecraft, and a few other smaller games)
1TB HDD - 114gb fre (Man, I need to do a "games-I-don't-play-anymore purge)
250GB HDD 106gb Free (Just for recording to)
And I'm perfectly fine on storage, considering I have a lot of big games, and probably around 100gb worth of old videos.
If you've survived on that 250GB hdd, you'd survive with a 250gb SSD. Much cheaper.

Former everything.
How to get dxdiag
Please post a DXDiag, it's the easiest way to give us your specs and driver/java info. (Tutorial in my signature)
Like Dumble_Doof said, an SSD would greatly improve your performance, but a standard 7200RPM HDD shouldn't take that long to load.
