I am trying to hunt the killer rabbit and have him in a world legitimately, as many of you know, he doesn't spawn anymore and capturing him would require me to play on the 14w27a snapshot. this version of minecraft is not available on the launcher and I need to be able to run minecraft with that snapshot if I want to be able to capture the guy.
You can still manually download snapshots that are not listed in the launcher by changing the version in the following URLs, which I already set to 14w27a:
Download these files and place them in a new folder renamed to 14w27a inside the "versions" folder in your .minecraft folder; it should show up in the versions list of the profile editor when you restart the launcher.
I got the links from this thread, which includes all 1.8 snapshots. This would also work for later versions though, and even pre-1.6 versions by renaming "minecraft.jar".
Note - as mentioned in the second link above the launcher deletes snapshots, I believe if you no longer have them selected in a profile, so you may want to rename it to something other than 14w27a; if you do this be sure to edit the "id" inside the json file (near the beginning) to match the new name. It is also highly advised to make a separate profile, including its own game directory, to avoid conflicts between configuration settings (at least when you use 1.7 on a profile that ran 1.8+ with a render distance above 16 chunks the game will crash) and accidentally loading a world in the wrong version and corrupting it.

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
It worked, thanks a lot for the help!
Hey, for some reason everytime I try to open or make anew world it crashes my game, any idea what might be causing this?
you should make a new post because this is about snapshots not games crashing
