On servers randomly it will randomly say you are "sending to many packets!" And it'll take me back to the server list. I don't know what it means, if someone does please tell me.
In multiplayer the server stores the world so that it's the same for everybody, if you place a block everybody will be able to see it, so it has to keep sending information to your Minecraft to update what you see.

Would OP be able to fix his problem by lowering his viewing distance while in multiplayer? Or will that not affect the amount of chunks being sent?
That won't affect anything, the server controls that.
