I have noticed that my game has just been getting choppier and more inconsistent with each Minecraft release. I decided to test this frame rate by staring in the same position and keeping all other variables constant except for the game version. I felt that my results are so conclusive that they fall outside of the margin of error. Feel free to try this yourself and share your results-- I would be happy to see them!

Your using a CPU from late 2007. Of course your getting worse frame rate. Newer versions of MC require more powerful hardware.

Yes, but why would the game be getting slower-- especially when they are supposed to make the game run better? Not to mention that, although my CPU is old, it isn't terribly weak (compared to the Core 2 Duo's that many players run), and newer CPU's will function in the much the same way, with the only advantage being that they run faster. So although a newer CPU may be capable of getting 100 fps more than what I'm getting, that newer CPU should also be experiencing the same decrease that I am, albeit not as noticeable. If you happen to have and i3/i5/i7 I would love to see what kind of frame rates you have been getting across these versions. Sorry that I don't have the money for a better PC right now.
