Recently I've been trying to run Minecraft. My friend has a server on version 1.9. I double click the desktop icon to launch the game, but all of a sudden every thing turns laggy. As soon as the menu that allows you to choose "Single Player" and "Multi Player" comes up, it takes ages for me to click something. But when I do click something, my actions do not respond until like 5 seconds later.
When I load into game, I press F3 and I see that i get 0 FPS. However once I press Esc and pause the game, I see that I get 30-45 FPS. When I unpause it, I go back to 0-1 FPS.
My Minecraft is Vanilla.
It is unmodded.
I use the texture pack Soartex Fanver.
I am using OptiFine 1.9
I tried taking off my texture pack, and I discovered that my 0 FPS went up to 4-5 FPS (wow progress) lol. I also turned my settings to the lowest, turned off clouds, etc.

The OS is 64-bit. I even update my Java to 64-bit as well as my Google Chrome to 64-bit, because I heard that will make my Minecraft run smoother.
I also tried cleaning my computer with the Disk Cleanup.
Does anyone know what I can do to give myself higher FPS?

Allocate more memory to minecraft:
-Open the launcher
-Go to Edit Profile
-Check JVM Arguments
-And change on -Xmx1G to -Xmx4G
check that you don't have virus (they can slow your pc)
Maybe you didn't insert the ideal graphic settings( OPTIFINE), make sure that they are:
Graphic: Fast
Smooth Lighting: Off
Smooth Lighting Level: 0
Gui Scale: Normal
Fog: Off
On Détails make sure everything is OFF and Fast
Animations: All OFF
Render Distance: 4 chunk
Framerate: Unlimited
Advanced OpenGL: Fast
Quality: All Off
Perfomance Settings:
Lazy Chunk loading: On
Preload Chunks: No
Fast Render and Math: ON
Chunk Updates: 1
You shoud lower a bit your FOV.. it makes a bit of lags..

I just did all of that and it didn't make that big of a difference...
However, FPS unpaused is now at 3-6, while paused is 75 FPS.
Pretty Strange, if you have other games on your pc, they lag too?
