Step 5-After you have downloaded the launcher, done the setup wizard (if there is one...can't remember) and it has set up (which will take awhile), log in with your minecraft/mojang account. It should work. If it doesn't work on first crack, tell me what the error is and I will try to figure it-no guarantees I can help you, but I'll try.
Step 6(optional)-Move your worlds from the minecraft you can't use into the one you just downloaded. If you don't know how, look it up.
Step 7(optional)-Re download your mods, such as Optifine or Forge.
Aaaaaaaand you're set. It while take longer to launch, but hey, it's either this or download the Technic launcher, which, even with Optifine, is laggy. Also, if you encounter problems after downloading the launcher, or you previously downloaded the 2nd Minecraft.exe file, try running as an admin.The greyish text is how GameChief999 fixed his problem, and set us on the path to fixing this issue. Hopefully, this should work until mojang can hopefully patch it.

It took some time, but since me and a friend of mine, GameChief999 had the exact same problem, we tried to fix it.
While this doesn't 100% solve it, it will allow you to play minecraft again...using the minecraft launcher.
Step 1-Go to minecraft.net.
Step 2-Hit download.
