I have a very strange problem been experiencing on minecraft. I just bought a brand new custom, very powerful gaming computer about a few weeks ago. I wanted to play minecraft so I downloaded the game and used my old mojang account I used to play on a different computer before it broke down. There wasn't any problems until about a week later I was experiencing extremely annoying lag spikes and stutters. The lag was so bad I couldn't even play and couldn't even move my character. Here's where it gets weird. I thought that it was something wrong with the computer so I decided to try and play minecraft on my brother's laptop. I used the same account to play on it and there was the exact same lag as on the computer. The thing is his laptop had virtually no problems playing minecraft before. We used to play on his laptop for a year with his account and there was no lag near as bad as this one. I thought it might be something wrong with my account so I had to make a whole new account and purchase the whole game again. I'm playing with my new account on my gaming computer and the extremely annoying lag is gone for now. I do experience a little bit of stutter from time to time though. So my question is what caused the lag? Was it a corrupt account? Plus I was using windows 8.1 on my computer when the lag was happening. So could that be the problem? I've downgraded to windows 7 now but I'm worried the lag is gonna come back again.

First off, what are your specs? Also, how much ram is allocated to Minecraft? If during the lagspikes you notice in the F3 menu (in-game) the Memory thing in the top right is near 100% then you might want to allocate a bit more. Don't give it more than it needs though.
plus when I was experiencing the lag, I tried to reinstall the whole game and started a new world but the lag was still there.
Your specs are definitely fantastic, but I'm not sure why you'd get lag with that. What are your in game settings? Did you try Optifine (I'm not sure that it would help, but having Optifine usually makes things go smoother)
Thanks. I've tried optifine it did not help. I had all my video settings set low which also did not help. I know it's a very strange problem I've never had before. Really appreciate it if you/someone could help tell me what is
