My PC doesn't have an internet connection at all and there's absolute no way for me to connect to the internet on it so if I want to play Minecraft on it then I have to copy the .minecraft folder over from my laptop. My PC used to have a connection so normally I'm able to play offline with that.
I tried to play 1.9 with forge on my PC and after clicking "play offline", I got this message in the launcher log:
[00:29:15 INFO]: Getting syncinfo for selected version
[00:29:15 INFO]: Queueing library & version downloads
[00:29:15 ERROR]: An update to your launcher is available and is required to play 1.9-forge1.9-12.16.1923. Please restart your launcher.
I restarted it and still got the same message, so I assumed that it was a problem with forge. I tried vanilla 1.9.4 and I got the same message, except replace 1.9-forge1.9-12.16.1923 with 1.9.4. I tried 1.8 with forge and it worked just fine so it's just having a problem with 1.9 and newer.
Is there a way for me to update my launcher on my PC since I obviously can't connect to the internet on it? Like is there something I can download on my laptop and copy it over to my PC?
EDIT: Thanks for moving it to the right place. I wasn't sure where to stick it since it affected both modded and unmodded versions of 1.9+.
I just looked in my .minecraft (my profiles use other folders). I think you should update launcher.jar, launcher.pack.lzma, assets and/or libraries. Save your old files till it works as it should.

I copied over the assets, libraries, resources and versions folders earlier. I'll have to try that again. Also where are launcher.jar and launcher.pack.lzma located at in Windows 7?

~Your_Life is now AFK I don't care if you hate Comic Sans. I'm going to keep using it.

In %appdata%\.minecraft
Unfortunately it didn't work so I had to resort to purchasing a 50 foot ethernet cable in order to connect that pc to the router. :/
