I've recently acquired a new laptop that has a built in nVidia GTX 970M GPU. when i right click on the minecraft logo on my desktop and tell it to run with the high performance graphics card I can go to (Shift F3) in-game and see that it is using my GPU. However, if I try to do this through the AT Launcher and play RR3, it doesn't show that it's using the card. Is it using it and not showing me? What am I doing wrong?

Is your computer being told to use your nVidia in the BIOS?

Curse Premiumdoes f3 show the chipset (usually sth like "intel hd 5000") instead?
if yes, force the AT launcher to use your gpu by setting up a separate profile in the nvidia control center.
But he might need to set the nVidia as his default graphics card in the BIOS like I did.

Curse Premiumgood point, might the problem as well.
however, this is not about the age of the PC - if minecraft can use it (through the pc), then it should work for every other application as well.
I guess. I did it through the BIOS though.

Moderatoryou shouldn't disable a laptops basic GPU via the bios, change the setting in the nvidia control panel

So once i've done that what kinds of fps should I be seeing?
CPU: Intel i7-6700HK
RAM: 16gb
GPU: GTX 970M
Also--- running sphax 64x with 211 mods total (will probably turn this down later)
At Least 120 or so, maybe less.

I' ve done everything you guys have said and I get around 70-90 with 10 chunks, fast graphics, clouds off, etc
