Back when i used to play in beta and even the early days of the actual release, i could easily max out the settings and get above 60fps no problem. This was on a crappy iMac that had a mobile amd gpu in it. I now have a pretty damn good machine and performance seems absolutely RIDICULOUS. I stopped playing Minecraft about a year or two ago for good and just recently tried to get back into it as I now have a good gaming laptop with a gtx 980m that is capable of running battlefield 4 at absolute max settings above 60fps all the time. Minecraft just seems so damn jittery, choppy and slow nowadays. It sure isnt RAM cause i have 16GB and dedicated 4GB and even tried 8GB and still no difference. Worlds load so much slower, frames consistently drop from 90fps (what I have it locked at) to somewhere in the 50s-60s causing nasty choppy moments. The game even seems to lag at times as if I was in a damn server! I punch a block and destroy it only to have it appear again as if i had bad connection on a server and then it would show up as destroyed on the screen. Let me tell you, this is NOTHING like the good ole Minecraft!
60 FPS is choppy for you? On a good day, I can get 50FPS at the most, and that almost never happens. Besides, unless you have 120hz monitor, your game likely can't display above 60 FPS.

I have a twitter, if you're interested in stalking me.
Doesnt matter, the difference between getting 60fps and 120fps feels very different. Minecraft just seems to have gone down some other road that degraded its performance drastically and its quite sad imo. I'll never forget the old Minecraft

If you don't like the new versions, you can always play the old versions.
Did you like my post? +rep doesn't hurt

RAM is *rarely* the cause of performance issues (vanilla MC doesn't use any more than 1-2GB), it's usually always your graphics card.
What graphics card do you have?
Lead developer of Dragonet!
Check out my game, Adventuria!
Dev of (IMO the best server ever) TwilightGamez!
Ive got a gtx 980m capable of running most new titles at high/max settings like i mentioned in the original post. I doubt its the graphics card lol.
Did you set the VSync on?

Moderatoringame, press F3, is the nvidia card listed, or an intel GPU?
No I do not nor have I ever used vsync as it brings a massive amount of sluggish input lag that nobody in their right mind is okay with.
Its running off the nvidia gpu, Ive always change my games to run that in the nvidia control panel
