I just downloaded minecraft today, and when I tried to open the game, a notice popped up saying 'Unable to download Minecraft. Please try again later.' I've heard about AVG stopping Minecraft from working, but I don't have it. I originally thought that it was because of Java, so I uninstalled Java, and re-downloaded it, but it still didn't work. I've looked through my Minecraft files, I thought my '.minecraft' file would have some way to fix it, but I can't find that, so I'm out of ideas. Can anyone help me?
that error could be a slow internet connection, or something getting in the way
i use 'Avast Free Antivirus'. i've cleared off all of my computer, ran a
couple scans, and everything was fine, i haven't tried going to a
different place in my house too see if there was better wifi, which i'll
do now, i also tried to re-download/install minecraft, but that didn't
work, i'm thinking of deleting my minecraft, and re-installing it, and
if that doesn't work, then idk what will?

Either you are not connected to the internet, or you don't have Java in your computer.
I've checked, my internet/wifi was fine, and i do have java
Try reinstalling the Minecraft Installer and launcher.
