So, I started playing on 1.8.9 with my Acer laptop (Win 10 64x, Intel i5, nvideo geforce 940, 8gb RAM) and everything was working great. I then updated to 1.9 the day it came out fully, with the frame rate being so low it was impossible to play.
This happens in the main menu, in game, everything but the launcher itself.
I have uninstalled multiple times, reinstalled Win 10, updated drivers over and over, have messed with all settings, uninstalled java, reinstalled java, tried forcing 32-bit java,edited my profile with "-Xmx768M -Xms768M -Xss1024K" type things that I have found in separate forum posts. Everything, nothing will work. Optifine also does not help. This doesn't seem to be a lag issue, but something wrong with my laptop and 1.9.
I came back today, with MC being up to 1.9.2 now and still the same problem. This is starting to drive me insane, less so the fact that I can't play, more so that I haven't been able to find a single fix. Any recommendations?

Does 1.8 still run fine?

-Max framerate: Unlimited
-Smooth lighting: off
Yes, 1.8 works fine. Even 1.8.9. Just the 1.9
