I don't think you need to choose an app at all, just ignore that and finish the install.
Then when you use the minecraft launcher you can use a profile to select the forge version you installed to launch with.

Very interesting. I have never heard of forge asking this. Try redownloading it and try again maybe something different will happen

I follewed ALL the steps in the video, never worked.
What installer did you download from Forge's website.
If it was a .jar, you need Java installed.
I have Java, i did everything this guy did (at least about forge, I didn't get into installing the mods)
