Okay so I have been working on getting optifine 1.9.2 on to the minecraft launcher for about 4 hours now. I have downloaded many other versions of optifine but have never had this issue before. Okay, so I downloaded optifine 1.9.2 off of there website and once when optifine 1.9.2 downloaded to my computer I moved it to my desktop where I then proceeded to click on the file where it prompted me to install optifine 1.9.2 and said how it would make a new profile for optifine 1.9.2. I installed it and it was fine until I opened up the minecraft launcher. It didnt change it from 1.8.9 to 1.9.2. So I clicked on edit profile and I tried to change it from optifine 1.8.9 to 1.9.2 but there wasnt a file for optifine 1.9.2. so I tried looking up how to do it manually but couldnt find anything. I also tried booting up the game thinking that would work but again it didn't. If someone could please help that would be great. I dont know if knowing that I have windows 10 will make a difference but now you know.
Before using the Optifine installer you must have already installed/played 1.9.2. Create a new profile in the launcher running 1.9.2 and launch it to install that version, now run the Optifine 1.9.2 installer this will create the separate Optifine 1.9.2 profile.

I already have had 1.9.2 installed and played on a single player map and multiplayer server. I have had 1.9.2 installed for a while now and I just recently tried to install 1.9.2 optifine but it wont create an optifine profile with optifine 1.9.2. It just stays at 1.8.9.

Are you completely sure you downloaded the Optifine 1.9.2 file? Sadly that's the only explanation I can think of.
