So, up until now, Minecraft has been treating me well. It's always given me sufficient FPS and it's never let me down. But that is, like I said, up until now..
I just had a huge FPS drop in the game. I am not certain what my fps used to be (I didn't ever check, seeing as my FPS hasn't been an issue until now), but it was at least over 20-30. However, now it's on 1 FPS.. almost all the time! sometimes, the FPS dares its ways up to 2, and if I stand really still and look straight up, It might even hit 10-20, but of course the spell is broken the instant I look back down or move, which limits my game experiences SIGNIFICANTLY!
This has been going on for a few days now, and it came all of a sudden. One night I had been playing with my girlfriend on a planetoid level, and then the morning after, I might aswell have been browsing through screenshots of the game...
I'm playing on a laptop (keep in mind this laptop has served me well ever since I got it, and however bad a laptop is at gaming, it should not just suddenly decrease so significantly in quality without reason).
It's an HP laptop running Windows 10 with processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-2350M CPU @ 2.30GHz.
It's also got 4,00 GB Ram and has a 64-bits operatingsystem and a x64-based processor.
Those factors might as well have been russian to me.. but I hope some of you guys could make sense of it.
I'm wondering if it's my entire PC being slow, or just Minecraft. The problem has been here for a couple of days now, so I've had plenty of time to stand still and stare into the sky while trying every sort of FPS/lag decreasing method. I've tried Optifine, which seemed to have no impact, of anything worse, and I thiiiink i have the latest version of Java installed (product version 8.0.25.18)?
I've got all my videosettings on the lowest possible (render distance 2chunks, no coulds, minimal particles etc.), and I've given java and javaw full priority in my computer...
i'm not sure if it will help you, but usually minecraft does not only start one javaw.exe. but 2, and you can safely shutdown the one with less RAM, which has been reported to help for some users. also look for other power-drainig programs in the background, like cloud services, AV scans, system cleaner tools(srsly, dont use this sh... stuff) and so on
I am having the same issue. Previously on my personal laptop it suddenly dropped to 1 fps on Multiplayer and singleplayer. I have tried re-installing Minecraft, but it did not fix the issue. Recently the same issue occurred on my brother's laptop, the night before he had been playing it and then the next day it was completely unplayable. It seems to be an issue with minecraft 1.9 running on an Intel Core graphics card, both my laptop and my brother's have one. I have tried multiple things and it has not solved the issue. I will try completely re installing my laptop but I just don't understand why it was so sudden. If you have any other suggestions please let me know!

Im experiencing the same problem as you. It used to run at 86-116 fps, but now 29-52fps
EDIT: Also when loading chunks, it give me 1 FPS when it used to give me 90fps before when loading chunks
Please make your own thread about this issue instead of hijacking other's topic like yours.
Anyway for the topic starter, did you try the following:
-Scanning for viruses
-Installer Razer Cortex
-Deleting unneeded files and apps.
