Whenever I play (Both singleplayer and multiplayer) I have a ton of FPS drops with sound turned on. With my sound turned off completely (MC not Windows) I have a ton of lag. FPS drops, and occasionally freezes. This happens on all versions of Minecraft.
While my specs aren't very good, I'm able to play more demanding games with audio on. I don't recall this happening in any version of Minecraft last year. I reset my hard drive and reinstalled Minecraft, but this still happens. Any help is appreciated.
I just want to mention that nothing demanding is happening in the game while this lag occurs.
I could be mining stone away from any chicken farms, (etc) and it would still happen. It even happens on Skyblock! (I have upwards of 200 fps without sound. This is quite odd.)
This is a very low-end laptop, but I've been able to run MC perfectly a while ago. Have not tried reinstalling sound card drivers, but will attempt. I'm not sure how well that would work considering all other processes run fine with sound. I've attempted revisiting older versions (1.2.5 for instance) and this still occurs. FPS is fine without sound. It's not that my PC can't keep up with the increasing versions apparently since the older ones possess this issue.

SPECS:
Thanks
Don't you think giving us your specs would help?
Also,
have you tried reinstalling your sound driver?
EDIT: Wrong specs posted.

If you can't upgrade your computer, you have to go through some really dicey installations.
You're going to want to try everything. Literally everything.
-Java installs
-Minecraft installs
-Sound drivers
