I tried dedicating 4G of RAM to MC because it kept seeming to lag if we got too far out in the world. However, no matter how much RAM I dedicated, the "Percent Free" that it shows under "Stats" never seemed to match what I had allocated.
For example, right now it says:
Memory use: 103mb (22% free) which would indicate to me that for some reason there is only 137MB allocated to the server.
Normally it hasn't been a problem, but when my friend and I tried to travel to the jungle recently, the server kept crashing because it said that it couldn't keep up. Since my Internet seems to be working just fine, I have a feeling it has something to do with the amount of RAM that the system is using.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
PLEASE NOTE: In terms of my understanding how all this works, please just assume that I am just learning how to read. I don't know anything about any of this. One of my biggest problems on other help threads is that people seemed to leave steps out of their answers.
Hi All
I am running a MC server on a laptop (which is a separate computer than what I play it on).
SPECS:
Processor: 2.5 GHz Intel Core i7-4710HQ Quad-Core 4th-Gen Haswell
Memory: 8GB of DDR3L RAM
Storage: 1TB HDD + 8GB SSD
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M (2G)
Operating System: Windows 10 64

Don't have either of those. Any other suggestions?

The last time I did it I did
Thank you for all the information! I will make sure to monitor the CPU usage on this "server" of mine.
