Hey everyone. It's been awhile since I've played minecraft, so I came back and updated to find that everyone, including myself, in singleplayer and multiplayer, are Alex and Steve. I've searched countless hours to find as to why this is happening, but I can't seem to find a solution. At one point, it did say I was missing the pack "mcmeta", but I went back to an older version of minecraft and switched back, which seemed to fix that problem. I still have the problem with the skins though.
I will warn you, I am playing on Windows 8 (and I didn't see a place to post for Windows 8 either, so I apologize if I'm posting this in the wrong area), so I'm not sure if this is because I'm not on 10? Maybe I just need to wait for another version to come out which may fix this? Or it may be another problem. I honestly have no idea, so I'm wondering if anyone has an idea as to how to fix this.
i guess the minecraft skin servers are down again. in any case, it's not worth the trouble updating to windows 10 as this could brake your minecraft anyways.
if it keeps happening you might want to reinstall minecraft by deleting the entire .minecraft folder.
player skins are downloaded on demand from the skin server. If you're minecraft is not displaying skins they could be being blocked.
This could be because of a parental control filter blocking the skin server, or sometimes ad blockers block them as being small graphics files (assumed to be ads of some kind).
Everyone's skin I see on any server when I am playing 1.9+ is Alex and Steve except for mine. What do I do because I play Minecraft on a Windows 10 computer
