I recently bought minecraft for my new computer, feeling pretty confident that it would work well, given that my new computer wife has a core i7 processor, which is a lot better than my old one. However, when I tried to open the game, I was just suspended in a "blank world" for a couple of seconds before the game crashed and I got this message:

Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM warning: Using incremental CMS is deprecated and will likely be removed in a future release
Now, I've seen a few people posting about this issue, and generally, the solution is to update to Java 8. I then realized that I hadn't downloaded Java at all, so I did. Nothing. I restarted my computer and tried again. Zilch. I don't see how Java could be corrupted, as I just downloaded it.
If it helps at all, when the loading screen goes to the percent loaded bit, it never goes up like it used to on my old PC. It just stays at 0% for a second before taking me to the blank world and promptly crashing.
Sorry, I'm so very bad with computers and I'm willing to bet I'm just making some sort of dumb mistake here. Thanks, folks.
