I've been playing 1.7.10 because of some favorite mods that aren't available on later versions. Was playing single player with just Forge and a few mods, not a formal modpack. I went off and played some FTB with Direwolf20 1.7.10 pack, and when I came back to non-FTB, I had this problem.
Everything looks normal through 'Create New World'. It then goes into the 'Building Terrain' screen, then goes to a crash screen. The crash report can be seen at pastebin.com/fxkNhxyJ. The words therein mean next to nothing to me. Sorry, I couldn't get the link to work, but if you paste it into a new tab, you can see my report.
I can still play the FTB pack, I've tried removing all mods and launching the vanilla 1.7.10 and get the same crash. In fact, I believe the crash report pointed to above is from vanilla. Reinstalling MC changed nothing. I can also launch vanilla MC, editing my profile to load 1.8.9, and it works just fine. Change it back to 1.7.10, and it crashes.
Can someone please tell me how to fix this? Thanks for your help.

Moderatorgo back to 1.8, turn your render distance to 16 or lower, then goto 1.7
