Whenever I play most games, I get a decent amount of FPS, but whenI try to play Minecraft, I can't get over 60 (and I don't even have Vsync on). My specs are:
Intel Core i7-4720 HQ 2.60 GHz
Nvidia GTX 970M
8MB RAM
I've updated my drivers, but nothing seems to help. Any ideas?
THIS, is not helpful at all. I'm assuming you have an Intel card as well. Minecraft will automatically pick the Intel card because it doesn't think Minecraft is worthy/ (let's say for lack of a better word)
Right click your desktop, click NVidia control panel, Go to Manage 3D settings, click Global Settings, and choose 'High-preformance NVIDIA processor' for the 'Preferred graphics processor'. Then click apply at the bottom.
This makes every application run with your NVidia card, thus you will never have this problem again.
Yeah I had the exact same problem as you. I right-clicked on the Minecraft shortcut > Run with graphics processor > Change default graphics processor...
For some reason I still have to manually open it with my card, default doesn't work.

Minecraft doesn't pick anything. It's the device driver that chooses, which is why you fix this by configuring the Nvidia control panel and not by configuring a minecraft setting.

I think you know that's what I meant.

Glad dude.
Use my fix above.
