Lets start that I always used intel cpus and could not be happier. About two months ago I got this Asus MB with an AMD 4300+ cpu for free from a good friend of mine, so I assembled a computer for my 7YO daughter.
12GB Ram, Kingston SSD, 2GB Sapphire card etc, good stuff, no el cheapo.
Now my issue is, whenever she gets close to a chicken farm that we have in our game(100+ chickens, 50 cows, sheep) her computer gets choppy and slow. I would like to upgrade.
Should I go with Intel cpu and decent MB or Should I just go with AMD X8 FX-8370E.
My computer with i4770 and 16GB, SSD and a cheaper video card doesn't even hiccup when close to the farm. Im assuming its the AMD.
BradBrock1: Out of the curiosity, if i disable the built in sound card, and put in a Sound Blaster or something in, would that take care of the sound issues associated with chickens/livestock?
If this "AMD 4300+" you're talking about is an Athlon 64 4300+ ... then I'm not surprised. That's a 12 year old single core fossil. You're in luck you could even fit a modern GPU on that mobo. Which would also mean the motherboard has an AM2+ socket at the most and won't fit a modern CPU, as those require an AM3+ socket.
If it's the new AMD FX 4300, then there's something weird going on. That's a 3.8GHz quad that shouldn't be having much issues.
It's also a fresh install of Windows 10. Legit, store bought. Only other piece of software on the computer is McaFee antivirus.
Hey Kids, sorry but have been extremely busy at work and with life. So today I sat down at my daughters computer turned off all audio devices and went to the farm. What I noticed is that animals stay frozen for two seconds, move, froze etc..... and the cycle repeats. Also what happens in that particular spot I get a LOT of "bad packet" errors related to the size. It happened so many times by the farm that I had to re-login into the game at least 15 times to get far and away from the animals.
Try disabling the sound ingame, and try it out. If the issue seems to be fixed, then the issue is sound. IIRC, Ethoslab had this problem. He was running something like an i7-4770k or something and he had this issue. He fixed it by using an SSD I believe. However, you mentioned your PC has an SSD, so if Minecraft is on that SSD, then the issue may not be the hard drive loading and unloading sounds.
First and foremost: Get rid of McAfee. It's the worst piece of junk on the internet. Seriously, don't touch that stuff.
The GPU is not relevant here.
This makes your CPU an AMD FX 4300. Which should really have no issues here, it's practically on par with your i7-4770 in regards with how Minecraft uses the CPU.
And the sound issue mentioned earlier is not related to the sound card. It has to do with how the game processes requests for playing sounds, which all goes through the CPU, like most things in Java.
well, swapped memory and video, disabled sound and nothing. We slaughtered the chickens and it is better. The only problem we are experiencing now is the packet errors, size errors etc.any ideas?
I can only guess that the sheer number of entities is so great that it's causing such errors. Since singleplayer is now technically solo multiplayer, that's probably why you're getting those errors. Though I have no idea on how to fix that, sorry :/
Sorry to bother you again, but don't know where to post this.
I always shut my computer off when not playing minecraft. If I leave it overnight by a spawner I always make sure there is nothing else around me besides glass through what I peek into the spawner and blocks all around me, so I can't move anywhere and nothing can spawn beside me.
Now, yesterday when I loaded up the game and logged on, I was close to my "house" and all my xp(around 100+), all my items, armour, tools, weapons and everything disappeared. I was literaly left naked. 0 xp, nothing. I don't remember leaving my character anywhere outside, nor at the spawner. I always make sure I log off when not at the spawner. If in the house, I am behind closed doors, and in the library room behind an another set of doors.
What would cause that?
My server computer is the one that im playing on as well. Its a I7 4770, SSd 32GB ram etc.
Is there a way to back this up? lets say every two days?
Thanks in advance dude.

The Cpu uses the AM3+ socket. It somewhat runs fine with most of the minecraft stuff, just around these chickens;) damn chickens!!!
video card is R9 200 series Sapphire. Older but i think its fine for MC.
I think i'll have to slaughter them or save up some money for a real cpu
That's the card

I think i'll be getting an asus board today and an i 5:)
