I really need help! A few weeks ago i encountered a weird thing(Bug?) which will not show the item name if i switch to the item in the Display HUD but now i can't stand it! i need help quick!
and that would be a violation of the support forum rules. If you aren't getting the response that you desire perhaps no one has an answer, or you haven't made yourself clear. You could read "How to ask for help effectively"
Since I keep seeing this I might as well ask... Can you list more information like, do you have any mods installed? What operating system are you using? Have you already deleted the .minecraft folder and ran Minecraft again after? Stuff like this can be very important when trying to find out your problem.

Thank you for your reply.
I have Optifine and 5zig installed on 1.8.8
I use 64-bit operating system
I thought deleting the .minecraft folder makes minecraft not run
Options > Video Settings > Details > Held Item Tooltips > ON
If that doesn't work delete the .minecraft folder and run Minecraft again. The .minecraft folder will be recreated with default settings. This of course means your mods will be gone and will need to be reinstalled.

I just do not understand why everybody says you need to delete the .minecraft folder (which BTW will also delete your worlds); at the very most you only have to delete the Optifine folder inside of the versions folder (assuming Optifine was installed by itself, not with Forge) or the options.txt file (optionsof.txt for Optifine).
In fact, as you can see here the game gets reinstalled anytime any file is modified (mods have to take extra steps to bypass this; now it is such that you can't even just rename the version, you have to remove the "downloads" information or update the checksum and file size):
For example, the json for 1.9 has this information in it; if the size of the jar file and the checksum (sha1) do not match perfectly the launcher will redownload the file:
All other libraries have this as well, and if files on your computer are spontaneously corrupting themselves I'd suspect a hardware problem (even a crash should only affect world save files, not the game itself since it only reads its own files, except for options.txt, launcher_profiles.json, and logs. Mods may also write to their own configuration files).
The reason as to why I said it was because he was asking for help and I gave him the amount of help possible from me. Hence why I stated it with my limited amount of knowledge. I barely play single player therefor I did not think to say backup your .minecraft folder as well. Of course I highly doubt it is a hardware problem. Thank you for the information, I guess Minecraft has changed with the time I have been gone. Should have guess since the launcher was changed so much since I last played. The main reason I posted it without thinking to much about the problem was because I did not want the food I was cooking to burn.

There is no such option in vanilla Minecraft.
Which is why, once again, Optifine counts as a mod and people who are using it should be posting in the Modded client forum.

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
