everytime i try and run the new .msi or .exe launcher it tells me
.msi version says
Minecraftlauncher.exe - Application Error
The Application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000005). Click OK to close the application.
.exe version

but when i run the old launcher it works but i cannot add more than 1g of ram (i have 16 gigs) and i'm planning to mod the hell out of minecraft with Massive mods like orespawn and stuff and 1 gig of ram dedicated to minecraft will not be enough
its annoying me. please help
Update: i found out why it had this issue everytime i launched minecraft... i dedicated more than 1GB of ram to the game and doing this makes it unable to launch. i have 16 GB of HyperX ram in my computer. is there a way i can dedicate more than 1 GB of ram without it having this issue? i have 40 massive mods in my game and having 1 GB of ram dedicated to the game will make it run less smooth

i do not have a launcher.log of when my minecraft wouldn't load due to too much ram being added but i am 100% certain that i am using 64 bit java. i checked and all my previous log files have been saved as .log.gz files and look like this

Try uninstalling previous java versions, and making sure that the java that's selected in the settings is the 64 bit. You can have it installed and not selected y'know. I had the same problem.

i only have one version of java installed and i have uninstalled all my previous versions of java yesterday because i read somewhere that was a fix but it didn't work

Mine said that 64 bit java wasn't selected even though i uninstalled the previous java, so if you haven't went into the settings and specified which java you're using, that might be the problem.

Are you using a different minecraft launcher or are you calling the original launcher crap? It seems you are indeed using java 64 bit, so that's the extent of my knowledge, but if you're using a different launcher, like multimc or the like, then that might be the problem.

i'm using this launcher (i have attached a photo)
and i hate multimc. i named the folder minecraft is in "crap minecraft launcher" because it kept breaking due to me adding more than 1 gig of ram and i got really annoyed with it so i just renamed the folder for the giggles xD

Nothing to see here.
You can't allocate more than around 1.5g of RAM to the Java heap unless you are using 64bit Java.

Either you are doing it wrong or you are totally mistaken about using 64 bit Java.
There is no other option.
Post the launcher log from a run where more than 1G fails.

minecraft is using this directory (i have replaced some words with starts (*) because i don't feel comfortable sharing some information)
