Before the Summer, I had Minecraft and I could play it fast and with ease, with mods as well. But during the summer, some things happened and my hard drive was fried and I had gotten a new one. But, the guy repairing my computer updated it to Windows 10 since it was Windows 8 at the time, even though I had said no. Now, Minecraft runs a bit slow on Default and I can't add a resource pack because then it slow too bad, Unlike before the change.
Now, what I'm wanting to know is if it would of been the Hard drive or the Windows Version that would have affected it. But if I go back to Windows 8 I would end up deleting everything. (But of course I will save some important stuff) And if it's the Hard drive then I'm screwed. Also I do not now the Specs. of the Hard drive if there is any to give because I obviously do not know what I am doing.

Probably Win 10. Your hardware might not be up to snuff under Win 10. The best thing to do is go through all your hardware and update all your drivers, especially your graphics drivers.
If your still having problems, you might have to go back to Win 8.
