Hey MC forums I have a serious issue that is really bugging me. It's server lag problem, it's not the server it's something, else my internet connection (phone hotspot) runs perfectly. Just ran a test through speedtest.net and my ping is 34ms 12mbps down and 4mbps up so it really isn't my internet. When I try to join a server like Mineplex or Hypixel it doesn't even load the chunks, can't use the items like server selector can't use commands or speak in chat it's just nothing, and after about 20 seconds it gives me the java.netty.handler.timeout.readtimeoutexception error. But the funny thing is, I can join eu.mineplex.com but not the other servers (us.mineplex.com hypixel etc:) and it runs perfectly not a bit of lag. Same with some other servers like minetime or badlion no problem at all. I have tried a different computer and the same problem occurs, tried using another android access point (phone hotspot on a different phone) and the problem still occurs. Used another minecraft version, same result. But if I use my ADSL connection (it's crap and extremely slow) i can still join the server and play (with alot of lag) but I can still do things at least. Another thing is when Mineplex or Hypixel isn't at it's prime time (30000 players) but nearing about 7000 players I can actually move but the lag is unbearable. What could possibly be the problem??
EDIT: Everything was working perfectly fine yesterday BTW

Hi you need to setup Port forwarding but I don't think it is possible on thos other hotsposts you have.. you can try and ask those providers if they can give you a public IP and then you are totally exposed so have a good firewall program and antivirus .
it is either that or those server are over capacity..
No no port forwarding is something you do when you are running a server on your local network and you want to allow people on the internet to connect to it. Port forwarding has nothing to do with this, unless you've configured it brokenly.
As for the hotspot issue.
1) does your provider explicitly allow using the phone as a hot spot? Some don't and can try to prevent you from doing so if they can detect that's what you are doing.
2) speed test and whatever and almost certainly using HTTP, and the cell network may be 'optimized' for that. Non-HTTP traffic (like minecraft) may be de-optimized as a result.

oh ok my bad will remember for future reference.. what about the server just being overcapacity??

I tried yesterday and surprisingly it worked? Telstra does allow hot spotting BTW so I think it was on their end. Main thing is it was working
