I have an iMac that runs OS X and I play on Minecraft v1.9. For some reason, even though I've turned my volume all the way up on all mixers and on my computer, the volume on my Minecraft game isn't working at all. I've checked volume on other programs such as Spotify, and everything else is working. If anyone has this problem and has fixed it, could you tell me how?
Thanks!

Hey friend. Not sure this reply will be of much use to you as I had the same problem, but on PC. I was getting an error in the launcher saying that it "gave up trying to download" the sound files for the default resource pack for 1.9. I tried everything. From restarting, to rebooting, to reinstalling (twice), to changing my DNS thinking my current one would not allow the download for some reason. Checked my firewall, everything was fine. And Yes, same as you, i still had no problems outside of minecraft with volume. Like in spotify 'n stuff.
So the solution for me ended up being in the launcher itself. Turns out the launcher was having some kind of issue fetching these sound files for me. So try this: Head to the minecraft download page. It will say you can either download the installer, or run minecraft.exe. Choose minecraft.exe. For some reason the launcher in that exe file worked for me. Not sure if all this will be the same for mac, if the offer the same thing as a .dmg file?

Re-installing the game worked for me! Thanks for the help!
I also posted a thread on skins not working also, and this fixed that too!
