You are crashing in the intel video driver, ergo you are not using the Nvidia Q.E.D.
By default most switchable graphics drivers don't think that Java requires 3D acceleration. You can fix that by going into the Nvidia Control Panel 3D settings and telling it to run Java / Minecraft on the Nvidia.
I have a NVIDIA Geforce graphics card. I've installed runtime I believe it is a new computer but it's a really good computer.
The game will let me create a world and load into it but crashes as soon as I spawn. I have no problem running a multiplayer.
You are not using the Nvidia, and the crash is caused by the Intel driver issue as covered in the 1.9 FAQ at the top of the forum.

Cool. Everything works now. I didn't realize that these things wouldnt run on the better card so that FAQ confused me. Thanks for your help
